History Hero: Bobby Tanner

Bobby runs a mule packing operation started years ago by his father out of Red Meadows — east of Yosemite National Park, near Mammoth Mountain. The mule teams take celebrities and everyday people into the high country.  The scenery is breath taking. He could fill books with his experiences.  In 2019 he helped revive a legendary part of the old West — the Twenty Mule Team. As part of Bishop Mule days, he created a hitch of 20 mules to pull the replica Borax wagons through the desert and onto the streets of Bishop. And he took us on one of his most popular pack trips — to Rainbow Falls, which is an unforgettable high Sierra experience.

You can see his work on several of our video’s
