Songs of the 1920’s

It’s hard to believe we could recognize, and dare we say, hum the songs that were written a hundred years ago. But that is the magic of the roaring 20’s in American history. At at the Lone Pine Film Festival, musician Jay Munns, thrilled us with some of the great music that came out of that decade.

Put him on a keyboard anywhere — and he will take you back to the old days. Music of the 20’s, 30’s and the 40’s is his speciality. And at the film festival, he provided live musical accompaniment to silent movie westerns screened there. The annual Lone Pine Film Festival, is put on by The Museum of Western Film History, in Lone Pine, California. It celebrates the hundreds of films and television episodes that used Lone Pine, the Alabama Hills, and the Sierra Nevada as film locations. When you add Jay to the mix, and his wonderful passion for period music, you get a match made in heaven — film heaven. And performing at the Cowboy Campfire — surrounded by mountains, well…what a venue.
