Saving Mission Control Preview

 

It was one of the most historic days in world history — that July afternoon in 1969, when man first landed on the moon. And it was broadcast live around the world — with billions of people watching. For the average viewer, all eyes were on NASA’s Mission Control room in Houston, Texas. The room represented a remarkable achievement. But as the years passed, as NASA moved on to other projects, and built a new control room, the old room was showing its age.  When the 50th anniversary approached, a special team was formed to restore the room. This is the story of that restoration, and some of the other ways Apollo is remembered around America.
