Jeremiah O’Brien: A Legend to Save

When a major fire broke out at San Francisco’s famed Fishermans Wharf, the world watched as fire fighters sprang into action. Many held their breath watching the flames threaten an old World War II Liberty ship. The Jeremiah O’Brien is one of the last ships still running after the war. What’s more, it was at D-Day during the historic Normandy landings. It somehow survived the invasion and more trips across the submarine infested Atlantic — and later the Pacific Theater.

But on that night, things were in doubt as the flames towered above the ship — sending four crew members fleeing for their lives. There was real concern the ship that survived the war — may not survive the fire
